Floyd Allen Cook, 94, of Tomah, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Tomah Memorial Hospital.

He was born to Gottlieb and Luella (Grassman) Cook on May 13, 1922. Floyd was baptized on June 11, 1922, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Indian Creek. He was a member of the Tomah Senior High School graduating class of 1940.

He was united in marriage to Lois Cuenot on April 24, 1946, at the Congregational church in Elroy. Together they farmed near Elroy for 35 years. They also would winter in Apache Junction, Ariz., for several years.

He worked for Badger Army Ordnance in Baraboo, Wis., and for the Toro Company in Tomah. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He took several hunting trips, such as elk hunting in Colorado and caribou hunting in Alaska; he also took fishing trips to Canada and salmon fishing trips in Alaska. Floyd served as the clerk for the Town of Glendale for several years. He was a faithful member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall. Floyd was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois; a son, Don (Candace) Cook of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Joyce (Kevin) Witt of Neillsville, Wis., and Judy (Dave) Sprain of Onalaska; five grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin Cook and Rudolph Cook; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters and an infant baby; three sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.

A memorial service will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 297 E. Railroad St., Kendall. Pastor Steven W. Neuman will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in the town of Tomah. 

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
