Everett O. Reineke, 76, of Elroy died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born Dec. 12, 1934, to Erwin and Grace (Miller) Reineke in Sauk County. He was a member of the Wilton High School graduating class of 1952. He was united in marriage to Lois Van Hecker on Oct. 22, 1966, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton.
A U.S. Army veteran, he worked at the Tomah Veterans Administration until 1969. In 1969, he bought a farm in the town of Glendale and farmed with his wife until his retirement in 2002. In his retirement, he worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in the maintenance department.
Everett was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton and served on the cemetery board and the church council. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially when he was working in his yardor watching and feeding the birds. He was a proud and loving grandfather who enjoyed traveling to watch his grandsons play baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois of Elroy; a son, Troy (Shawn) of Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters, Trudi (Michael) Woods of Menasha, Wis., and Toni (Jerry) Jones of Coralville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Parker and Jameson Reineke and Zachary and Caroline Woods; a sister, Marion Brown of Sparta; an uncle, Harley of Kendall; five sisters-in-law, Jo Ann (Donald) Hubbard of Hillsboro, Georgenne (Joe) McCracken of Kendall, Marie (Doug) Jacobson of Janesville, Darlene Van Hecker of Janesville and Bert Van Hecker of Janesville; a brother-in-law, Ray (Coleen) Van Hecker of Warrens; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vivian Michaels; and four brothers-in-law, Kenneth Brown, Bob Michaels, Jerry Van Hecker and Art Van Hecker.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 401 Mill St., Wilton. Pastor James Steinbrecher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery, town of Glendale.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4–8 p.m. Sunday at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 112 S. Railroad St., Kendall, and from 10–11 a.m. Monday at the church.
