Ellen M. Schroeder, 62, of Germantown Hills, Ill., passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 11, 1948, in Chicago to John and Emilie (Madeja) Kosciolek. She married Douglas C. Schroeder on Oct. 15, 1972, in Chicago Heights, Ill. He survives.
Surviving are her children, Stephen Schroeder of Brisbane, Australia, Gregg (Lindsey) Schroeder of Mesa, Ariz., and Jill Schroeder of Atlanta. She is also survived by two sisters, Judy Stachewicz of Henry, Ill., and Jan Corbett of Ontario. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ellen graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1970, receiving her bachelor’s degree in speech pathology. She was a speech pathologist for SEAPCO, working with Peoria Heights School District 325 for 17 years. Ellen loved her children, enjoyed traveling and was a huge Purdue Boilermakers fan. She was of the Catholic faith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel, with Deacon Paul Neakrase officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5–7:30 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday. Cremation rites will be accorded after services, with inurnment of cremains at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria, Ill., at a later date.
