Sis, age 84, of Plant City, Fla., and formerly of Ontario passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Fla.
Sis was born March 31, 1931, to LeRoy and Viva (Maxwell) Dunwald near Ontario. On July 2, 1949, she married Jimmie Cary, and he preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1955. Together they had four children, Patsy Downing of Plant City, Gene (Deb) Cary of Viroqua, Judy Myers of Ontario, and Donna (Von) Taylor of Ontario. On Nov. 23, 1956, she married Lowell Mason, and they later divorced. Lowell had three sons, Ricky (Pam) Mason of Pittsville, Wis., Micky Mason and Steven (Sandy) Mason. Together they had Rodney (Missy) Mason of Plant City, Fla.
Sis worked at Northern Engraving and as a teacher’s aide at Brookwood High School while raising their blended family. After moving to Florida, she worked at Paradise and Alumax. She also worked for a time at Schendel Brothers/Mathy as a scale person.
Sis will be fondly remembered by family and friends. Visitors were always welcome at her home in Plant City. Everyone loved her homemade noodles, fresh lemon meringue pie (lemons she picked from her own tree), fabulous hot fudge and numerous other delicious foods. Her recipes have been handed down for family and friends to enjoy for years to come. She also lovingly crocheted afghans for each grandchild, great-grandchild, and great-great grandchild.
Sis is survived by seven children; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (John) Downing of Norwalk; a brother, Harvey Dunwald of Ontario; a sister-in-law, Lora (LeRoy Jr.) Dunwald of Ontario; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
Sis was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; two brothers, LeRoy Jr. and Lyle; one sister, Lavina; and a son, Micky.
There is no service being held. A private burial is being held at a later date as per Sis’s request.
