Drew Martin Brandt, 15 months old, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at home, surrounded by love, in the arms of his parents.
He was born Aug. 18, 2010, in Madison, the son of Ben and Annie (Krueger) Brandt. In his short time with us, Drew touched the lives of many, especially during his battle with cancer. In joyful and trying times, his fun-loving, caring spirit was ever-present. Our sweet angel’s courage, warmth and love will live forever in our hearts.
Drew is survived by his parents; his grandparents, Peter and Christine Brandt of Elroy and Martin and Maureen Krueger of Reedsburg; his aunts and uncles, Jami (Chad) Brieske, Katie Brandt, Charlie Brandt, Marty (Sarena) Krueger, Katie (Luke) Pelton, Matthew Krueger and Maggie (Travis) Van Zile; and his cousins, Izabelle, Olivia, Graeme, Symon and Easton. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.
Funeral services were at Our Lady Queen Of Peace, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, with Father Tom Monaghan of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg and Father Richard Dickman of St. Patrick’s Parish of Elroy concelebrating. Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery. The Gunderson Fitchburg Funeral Home, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, Wis., assisted the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made in honor of Drew to the American Family Children’s Hospital. A special thank you to all of Drew’s doctors and nurses from the American Family Children’s Hospital for the excellent care provided to Drew, especially Dr. Neha Patel and Dr. Bermans (Benny) Iskandar. We would also like to thank our incredible family for their support as well as all of those who followed Drew’s story.
