Dennis M. Calhoon, 87, of Ontario passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua.
Dennis was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Dell, Wis., to Warnie and Hazel Parr. Dennis married Marcella, and together they had a dairy farm in the Ontario area for many years. He was a veteran and a member of the American Legion in Ontario.
Dennis is survived by his children, Mike (Christine) Calhoon of Valley, Wis., Teresa (Randall) Brey of Plain, Wis., Colleen (special friend Tom Peterson) Roy of Ontario and Brenda (Chris) Reneau of Wilton; brothers and sisters, LaVon Sheldon of Westby, Bernice Osgood of Elroy, Leona Paulsen of Ontario, Rosie (Lester) Phelps of Mauston, Jim (Tina) Calhoon of Ontario, Jack (Murial) Calhoon of Ontario and Bessie (Leon) McElhose of Ontario; one sister-in-law, Bea Calhoon of Ontario; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Rita Hauser; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marcella; one son, Terrance Calhoon; two infant siblings, Janet and Roger Calhoon; a sister, Lorraine Schmitz; a brother, Keith Calhoon; and one grandson, Travis Calhoon.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Torkelson Funeral Home, Ontario. Pastor Alan Tripp officiated. Burial with full military honors followed at Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario.
