David “Dave” Branfort, 64, of Union Center died June 30, 2016, at Mayo Clinic in La Crosse.
He was born July 2, 1951, in Elkhorn, Wis., the son of Marshall and Fern (Cummings) Branfort. He married Jerita Ennis on Dec. 4, 1982.
David proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines, and he worked for several years with Trent Tube in East Troy, Wis. He also worked as a guard at Sand Ridge Correctional Facility and will always be remembered for the 25 years he and his wife owned Dave & Jerita’s Center Tap Bar in Union Center. He had a great passion for deer season in Wisconsin and loved bow and gun hunting. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, John (Jack) and Francis Branfort; and two sisters, Kathy and Linda.
He is survived by his wife, Jerita; two children, Sarah Branfort-Sake and Jacob Branfort; his mother, Fern Branfort; one brother, George (Sandy) Branfort; four grandchildren, Alexis Sake, Ashtyn, Cole and Owen Branfort; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
A celebration of David’s life will be from 4–7 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Thompson Funeral Home, 402 Center St., Wonewoc, with a gathering and supper at Center Tap directly afterward. There will also be a celebration Aug. 20, 2016, at the Branfort family farm in East Troy, Wis.
