A CWD Summit focusing on chronic wasting disease in the Monroe County deer population is set for Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Wilton American Legion Hall, 508 Walker St., Wilton.

Landowners, hunters and DNR biologists will give presentations on the history of CWD in Wisconsin and its current status, the 2023 deer season structure and opportunities, and CWD best-management practices.

The summit also will offer hands-on learning opportunities on removing lymph nodes for CWD testing and using a CWD sampling kiosk.

CWD-free venison Sloppy Joes will be provided at the end of the summit. Coffee and donuts also will be available.

The event is sponsored by the Monroe County CWD Task Force, the Monroe County Deer Advisory Council, the DNR and Fort McCoy.
