Craig L. DeWitt, 54, of Elroy passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.  Craig was born April 14, 1967, to Michael Lee and Ilene (Martin) DeWitt in Janesville, Wis.

Craig was born with creativity running through his blood, and this artistic second nature directed him to a full, adventurous life. Playing his guitar was where most of his creative juices were directed. Craig was inspired by rock and roll music and was a self-taught musician.  He was involved with playing with many different bands throughout Wisconsin and Tennessee.  He was talented enough to cross paths and work with many of his rock-n-roll music heroes.

Craig was a social butterfly, going wherever his long hair and music would take him. He loved football and watching the games. He had a magnetic personality that made people gravitate to him, which is why he leaves behind friends all over the world. He was also very excited to become a grandfather.

Craig is survived by his mom, Ilene Knight; his dad, Michael Lee DeWitt; his children, Branson DeWitt, Julian DeWitt, and Kiana Lamar; his grandchildren, Tristen and Desmond; his sister, Michelle (Bob Walters) DeWitt; his brother, Michael John (Amy) DeWitt; his nieces and nephews, Adam, Zoey, Elias, Mindy and Tana; his wife, Dawn; along with many other relatives and too many friends to name.

Craig was preceded in death by his brother, Todd, in 2019; and his nephew, Adam James DeWitt, in 2002.

Craig did not want a funeral. Instead, he wants those who knew and loved him to pick out some great music, turn it up — play it loud and think of good memories of Craig.  He loved his family and life — and went out like the rock star that he was.

The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, and online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
