Collette “Mazie” Haseley, 87, of Sparta and formerly of Kendall passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta.
She was born May 15, 1928, to John and Mabel (Burdick) Creviston in Black Valley, rural Wilton. On June 4, 1959, Mazie was united in marriage to Reinhold Haseley at St. Matthew’s. He preceded her in death in 1976. Together they farmed in the South Ridge area. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and for several years served on the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed cards, rummage sales, and her family. She was especially proud of her granddaughters and would share that with anyone who asked! She will be remembered for quick wit and her commentary and her unfailing service to others. She spent most of her life caring for the elderly in her community and was still concerned about others right up to the end.
She is survived by her son, David Haseley of Baraboo, Wis.; two granddaughters, Olivia and Abigail Haseley; a sister Delores Worden of Tomah; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a son, John Creviston, and an infant son, Fredrick Haseley; three brothers, Phillip, Wayne and Waylond “Buck” Creviston; and six sisters, Frances Schanhofer, Dorothy Williams, Mary Rhadens, Ruth Hardy, Margaret Dankert and Audrey Jacobson.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25525 County Hwy. P, rural Ontario. Pastor Steven W. Neuman will officiate. Burial will be in South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation at the church Wednesday from 4–7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
