THANK YOU: Rails to Trails Marathon Committee would like to thank all those who helped with our Marathon. St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church who served the spaghetti dinner, Ms. Buckbee’s diversity Club who served the chicken dinner, Bob Cunitz and Tom Hansen, Barb Hansen, Mike Wiedl, Henry Vian, Tom Kotten and his gang that put the lanterns in the tunnel, all organizations that took care of the aid stations Norwalk Area Fireman and First Responders, Karen Berendes, Jerry Martenson Dewey Hanson, John Ornes, band from Brookwood that did clean up, Beth Brown, Josephine and Evelyn Brown who were our Black Squirrels, Andy from DNR , Lynn Anderson, Colleen Scholze, Leroy Fields who provided music, Mike Karis, Kathy Neumann, Patty Holte, Marie Wiedl, Cecile Flock and all who made home cookies and bars for the runners, which they always look for and appreciate. There are about 120 volunteers, I know I haven’t named them all. This was our 11/12 year of the Marathon we had a low number of runners, but a beautiful day. Perhaps next year we will have more runners sign up. If we made any money we are looking at purchasing backdrop curtains for the drama department at Brookwood. We of course will be putting flowers on Main Street in Norwalk next year and will do scholarships for graduating seniors next spring. We could never do this without the all the volunteers and the Marathon Committee puts a lot of time into this to make it a success. Members Of the Committee are Dana Martenson, Barb Ornes, Mary Beth Hanson, Sharon Karis, Patricia Doll, Kim Nofsinger, and Theresa Lehner.
