Operating while intoxicated, a 21-year-old Ontario man hit a tree off the 300 block of E. South Street in Ontario at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
Trey W. Kaiser was traveling east in his 2015 GMC Sierra when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, striking the tree. The tree collapsed onto the vehicle and closed one lane of Highway 33.
Sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Kaiser was treated and transported by Ontario Ambulance to Vernon Memorial Healthcare. An investigation determined Kaiser was operating while intoxicated and was cited for OWI (first offense), driver possessing open intoxicants, and failure to keep vehicle under control.
The Ontario Fire Department, Ontario Ambulance Service, and Dinger’s Towing and Recovery of Norwalk assisted the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
