Calvin J. Summerfield, 85, of Norwalk passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Serenity House in Tomah.

He was born Sept. 6, 1925, to John and Arlene Summerfield in Sparta.

In 1961, Cal bought the family farm, where he farmed until 1992. He was united in marriage to Carol A. Faulkner on July 21, 1990, at United Methodist Church in Norwalk. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and watching sports, especially baseball. Cal was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Norwalk.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; a sister, Audrey Capper of Lodi, Wis.; a brother, Clinton Summerfield of Norwalk; a sister-in-law, Barb Summerfield of Rockland, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William “Bill” Summerfield.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at United Methodist Church in Norwalk. Pastor Teresa Amberson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pilgrims Home Cemetery, Norwalk. Family and friends are invited for visitation at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home of Norwalk is assisting the family with arrangements.
