Ashley (Miranda Arndt) listens to a bedtime story.

The Brookwood Theatre Department will present “Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up)” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, in the Classic Gym. Admission is $5.

The following is a synopsis of the play: “It’s Dad’s turn to tell his three rambunctious kids their bedtime stories, but when he gets fuzzy on the details, the classics get creative: a prince with a snoring problem spices up The Princess and The Pea, The Boy Who Cried Wolf is a girl who cries dinosaur instead, and Rumpelstiltskin helps turn all that pesky gold into straw. You may think you know your fairy tales, but not the way Dad tells them.”

Kim Neal Nofsinger will direct the performances, and Barb Ornes of Norwalk constructed the costumes.

Above, see a photo gallery of the rehearsal.

The queen (Ayawyn Conner) and her prime minister (Katherine McElhose) make an appearance in a retelling of “The Princess and the Pea.”
