The following are the Brookwood High School athletes of the month for February. Coaches’ comments follow the students’ names.
BOYS BASKETBALL
• Marshall Doll: “Marshall is one of a kind! If you need an example of determination, perseverance, and a genuinely kind athlete, we would pick Marshall in a heartbeat. He never gives up and always learns quickly from his mistakes. Marshall is an amazing contributor to our team, and we thank him for being part of our first year as varsity coaches.
• Gavin Havlik: “Gavin has shown tremendous progress throughout our season. He is always ready to learn new things in practice and pushes himself to stand out among his teammates and prove his worth. As coaches, we really appreciate his motivation and willingness to tackle anything that is asked of him.”
GIRLS BASKETBALL
• Nessa Anderson: “Vanessa has exhibited great leadership skills throughout the basketball season and has worked very hard this year to help lead her team to achieve common goals. She has been our statistical leader, team captain, and a great teammate who was always excited for the success of others before her own. Nessa’s humble demeanor on and off the court while leading by example in practice and games is commendable, and we as coaches are very proud of her efforts this season.”
WRESTLING
• Dylan Powell: “Dylan capped off his senior season with a conference and regional championship before earning sixth place at the 80th annual WIAA State Wrestling tournament in Madison. Dylan also eclipsed the 100-win mark.”
