The Brookwood girls basketball team hosted the first round of regional play Feb. 20 in the WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal. For the third time this season, No. 8 Brookwood faced No. 9 Wonewoc-Center as the teams split the matchups in the regular season. Brookwood kept the lead toward the end to gain a 62–56 victory. This first round of regional play also marked the first time hosting and winning a playoff game for Brookwood since 2016. Vanessa Anderson snatches the ball free from Wonewoc-Center in the final minutes of the game. Anderson and Reagan Muehlenkamp each tallied 16 points in the win, with Ruby Muehlenkamp scoring 13, Kymber Kaiser tallying 9 points and Deanna Wallace scoring six. In the regional semifinal, Brookwood traveled to Cochrane-Fountain City, and the girls ended their tournament play with a 77–25 loss. Brookwood ends its season 14–12 overall. (Tasha Mueller photo)
