Beverly W. Hensel, 74, of Beloit, Wis., died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of William and Eleanor Ormson Thompson, she was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Elroy. Beverly was a graduate of Kendall High School. She married Fred O. Hensel on June 22, 1963, in Beloit. He predeceased her Aug. 27, 1983.

Beverly enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing and hunting with her husband. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beloit, where she was active in the W.O.W.S. and the Dust Bunnies groups. Beverly was involved with the Relay for Life Walk. She lived to be with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her five children, William (Tracy Hale) Hensel, Beverly (Ed) Scoville, Gary (Kathy) Hensel and Fred Hensel, all of Beloit, and Marsha (Vic) Amundrud of Perry, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her mother, Eleanor Thompson of Kendall; three brothers, Jim (Donna) Thompson of Kendall, Brian (Elaine) Thompson of Elroy and Richard (Julie) Thompson of Milwaukee; two sisters, Joan Pasch of Kendall and Mary (Dave) Weber of Webster, S.D.; two sisters-in-law, Donna Thompson and Clara May Thompson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, William Thompson; a son, Buddy Severson; and two brothers, Lyle and Carl Thompson.

Funeral services were Friday, July 16, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 617 St. Lawrence Ave., Beloit, with Rev. Roger Elliott officiating. Burial was in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, Ill. The Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
