Beverly (Goetz) Brown, 73, of Sparta passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta.
She was born March 31, 1939, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Hanson) Goetz in Wilton.
Bev was united in marriage to Carl Thomas. She was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching soaps on TV, cooking shows and movies. More than anything, she loved her family and getting together with them.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Dale) Young of Sparta, Karen (Larry) Meade of Sparta, Donna Marx of Sparta, Cindy Thomas-Hodgkins of Sparta, Berlie Thomas of Sparta and Eugene (Shintia) Thomas of Black River Falls; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a brother, Charles Goetz of Wilton; two sisters, Mae Long of Wilton and Carol Wallace of Sparta; three half-brothers, Donald Wallace of Tomah, Calvin (Lena) Wallace of Bell Center, Wis., and Ervin Goetz of Reedsburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth; her husband, Carl Thomas; a son-in-law, Ronald Marx; a grandson, Travis Marx, a sister, Darlene Degler; three half-sisters, Carolyn Holtorf, Lucille Gronsky and Genevieve Tremain; and a half-brother, Donald Goetz.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sparta. Pastor Mark Wessel will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home in Sparta. Family and friends are also invited for visitation Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
