Beata J. Polstin, 83, of Sparta and formerly of Wilton died peacefully Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 7, 1930, to Louis and Lela (Burdick) Schwartz. She was a member of the Wilton High School graduating class of 1948. She was united in marriage to Rudolph “Rudy” Polstin on May 1, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. He preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1997.
Prior to moving to Wilton, they lived in Savanna, Ill., where she enjoyed many years as the owner and operator of Bea’s Deluxe Café, where she made many life friends.
Together they owned and operated Polstin Grocery in Wilton from 1977–1996.
Beata enjoyed bowling, playing cards with her friends and family, dancing, and watching the Chicago Cubs. She was a faithful member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton and a previous member of the women’s circle. She was an excellent cook and always had one more spot at the table for anyone. Beata was always full of life and a very caring individual. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Polstin and her fiancé John Dickman of Leon and Diana Joy of Jackson, Wis.; her grandchildren, Adam and Nicholas Joy; two brothers, Sterling Schwartz of Wilton and Gary Schwartz of Sparta; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, and two brothers, Calvin and Carl.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton. Pastor Cindy Arndt will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
