The owners of four Kendall residences may be pressed to demolish the flood-damaged structures, the Kendall Village Board noted at its meeting last week.

A new tax incremental finance (TIF) district could serve as a funding mechanism to restore flood-damaged Ontario, village board president Mark Smith said at the board’s meeting Monday.

The Wilton Village Board approved bonuses for its employees at its December meeting, significantly increasing the amount over previous years’ figures.

Flood damages sustained Aug. 28 added complications and delays to Kendall’s wastewater-treatment-plant project, which the village board reviewed at its monthly meeting Monday.

Funded by a grant it had received earlier this year, the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District’s safety projects, which include a new PA system and interior video surveillance system, are nearly complete, according to Superintendent Kelly Burhop.

Kendall sustained about $800,000 in damages to public property during the Aug. 28 flood, according to preliminary figures prepared by village employees and Baraboo, Wis.-based MSA Professional Services, which provides engineering and planning services to the village.

In the late August floods, Wilton fared the best of the village’s within the County Line’s readership area, as its estimated damages amounted to $58,946.13.

Calling an emergency meeting, the Ontario Village Board gathered Wednesday to assess the flood damage to village-owned buildings and have a preliminary talk on the possibility of moving Ontario’s downtown.

Seeking redress after the Village of Norwalk’s decision to leave the Wilton Ambulance Service, the Wilton Village Board agreed Monday to contact an attorney regarding what it sees as Norwalk’s failure to meet its financial obligations to the service.
