Despite the fickle weather, spring is making its appearance here in our little corner of Monroe County, and we notice as we travel locally that the tulips are beginning to bloom, as are the wild plums plus the grape hyacinths up the valley at Evelyn Friedl’s.

Here on the south side of Kendall, spring is finally acting more normal.

The last week of April was filled with fun activities for most of the neighbors here on the south side of Kendall, so I’ll get right to the good stuff and not bore you with my usual comments.

Due to the farewell ice and snow of the season last week, several of the neighbors’ plans had to be cancelled or postponed, so this week’s news is shorter than it might have been.

Just when we think that spring has arrived at last, good old April will have a farewell party this week, offering wintry mix and snow as I celebrate my birthday

It’s Monday evening as I write this, and so far I’ve made it through the first day of the month without an April Fools’ joke.

As I write this Tuesday morning, we are enjoying a couple of days of sunshine and the clean, white snow that covers all kinds of uglies underneath it.

March arrived lamb like in the morning Friday, but by the end of the day, it had metamorphosed into a lion cub and dumped a few more inches of snow on us.

This February has been one for the record books, and as I write this, it isn’t over yet.
