Arvid L. Lee, 97, of Cashton passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in the home of Leighton and Sandy Lee.
He was born Oct. 17, 1914, to Leonard and Clara (Erickson) Lee in Cashton. Arvid was united in marriage to Ruth M. Lind on April 29, 1922, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cashton. After raising their three children, they built a small cabin home on 40 acres outside Cashton. He was the last surviving charter member of the Cashton Lions Club. Along with his brothers, he was the owner and operator of the Cashton Hardware Store for most of his life, until his retirement. Arvid was an avid fly fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his sons, Leighton (Sandra) Lee of La Crosse and Ron (Kristie) Lee of Columbia, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Kaia (Dan) Lee-Seefelt, Ola (Vanessa), Per (Katherine), Ryan, Christopher and Aaron Lee, and Mike (Jacci), Shawn (Tracy) and Eric Horstman; great-grandchildren, Kjetil, Haakon, Kalle and Lars Seefelt, Samantha, Austin, Shane, Dakota, Ryan, Tyler, Jayme and Benjamin Horstman, Mason, Isabella and McKenna Lee, and Dillion and Danielle Osmond; and a great-great-grandchild, Aiden Horstman; a sister, Clarice Bessey of West Lake Village, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Susan Kline; his brothers, Burton, Lester, Vernon and Earl; and an infant sister, Thelma.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cashton. Pastor James Bessey will officiate. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences are available at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
