Alice Evelyn Webb, 93, of Ontario died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

She was born Feb. 6, 1917, to Guy and Rosie (Fanta) Thayer in the town of Wellington, Monroe County. Alice was united in marriage to Glenn Webb on Oct. 25, 1939. He preceded her in death Sept. 1, 1989. Glenn and Alice worked side by side on their farm in town of Wellington all of their married lives. She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours in the fields with Glenn. She was known for keeping a meticulous lawn, trimming all the corners and edges. Along with working outdoors, Alice was a proud homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking, making pies, cinnamon rolls and cakes, to name a few. She was a creative baker and could make anything taste delicious, with a “pinch of this and a dash of that.” Nobody left the Webb house with an empty stomach. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved the hustle and bustle of a full house and enjoyed spending special days with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one was special to her in his or her unique way.

She is survived by four daughters, Charlene of Ontario, Eleanor (Richard) Poppie of Beloit, Wis., Adeline (Dean) Wallace of Sparta, and Rita (Gene) Allen of McFarland, Wis.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eileen Standiford of Beloit; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; three sisters, Agnes Olson, Claire Dinger and Rosella Myers; and three brothers, August, Albert and Donald.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Evangelical Free Church, 104 Hall St., Kendall. Pastor Robert Waschek will officiate. Burial will be in the Cal-Day Cemetery, town of Wellington. Relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
