James Henry Calhoun, 83, of Ontario passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Sparta.
James was born Nov. 23, 1928, to Warren and Hazel (Parr) Calhoun in La Farge. He was in the U.S. Air Force. James married Tina Marie Sortino, and together they farmed. He worked in Colorado before retirement and enjoyed fishing for many years before and after. After retirement, James and Tina moved back to Wisconsin, like everyone does. We will miss Dad/Grandpa Jim, but we all know he is in a much better place with the Lord.
James is survived by his wife, Tina of Ontario; six sons, James (Joyce) of Pueblo, Colo., Mark (Donna) of Norwalk, Dave (special friend Janet) of Ontario, Tom (Kathy) of Rapid City, S.D., Alan (Nancy) of Bloomer, Wis., and Greg (Patty) of Inglewood, Colo.; a brother, Jack (Marilyn) Calhoun of Ontario; five sisters, Leona Paulson of Ontario, Rosie (Lester) Phelps of Elroy, Bessie (Duke) McElhose of Ontario, Bernice Osgold of Mauston, and La Vonne Sheldon of Westby; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and dear friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Keith and Dennis Calhoun; and a sister, Lorraine Wruck Schmitz.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Ontario. Burial will follow in the Dell Cemetery, Dell, Wis.
