June M. Schendel (nee Lounsbury) went to join her husband Merlin of 75 years on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025. She had been a resident of Liberty Village in Tomah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin; her parents, Harry E. and Lolan Lounsbury of La Farge, Wis.; her brothers, Harry Jr. and Donald; her sister, Annabelle; and her sons-in-law, Karl Ferguson and Al Klaser.
June is survived by her children, Patricia (Bill) Stevens of Fort Collins, Colo., Barbara Mundinger of Phoenix, Ariz., Ellen Ferguson of Orlando, Fla., Paula Klaser of Ocean Springs, Miss., Paul (Gina) Schendel of Tomah, Wis., and Michael (Junko) Schendel of Valdosta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
June and Merlin farmed near Ontario, Wis. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After their retirement, Merlin and June wintered in Arkansas, where June sang in the church choir and volunteered at the library.
In Wisconsin, she was active in the Ladies Aid at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, South Ridge, and was a member of Homemakers. She and Merlin enjoyed traveling to visit children and grandchildren, including trips to Okinawa and Germany.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church on South Ridge, rural Ontario, Wis. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. June and Merlin will be buried together in the South Ridge Cemetery.
