Metro Palamaruk, 94, of Kendall, died Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Touch of Home.  

He was born Feb. 7, 1931, to Konstantine and Victoria (Mamoff) Palamaruk in Fort William, Ontario, Canada. After graduating high school, he served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Metro was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Magee on Aug. 29, 1952.  Together they had five children. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 1989. He was then united in marriage to Gail Miller on Sept. 14, 1996. 

Metro and his family moved to Kendall in November 1966.  He purchased the Kendall Rack Shop with his brother-in-law Harry Franks.  In 1968, Metro, Harry Franks, and David Friske bought the Kendall Lumber Yard.  Metro was a founding member of Kendall EMTs and was a past member of the Kendall Fire Department.  He was community-minded and was a member of the Kendall Lions Club.  He enjoyed working with his hands and tinkering with small engines.  He built Model A’s and Model T’s with his grandsons.  Metro was a small man who had a large presence.  He loved spending time with his big family and enjoying the company of his friends and taking fishing trips.  He will always be remembered for his storytelling ability.

He is survived by his wife Gail of Kendall; 14 children, Bruce Palamaruk of Kendall, James Palamaruk of Kendall, Roberta (Pat) Webster of Rio, Cindy (Tom) Ballenger of Elroy, Marge (Craig) Sturtz) of Rock Springs, Dianne (Wayne) Hansen of Kendall, Kathy (Charlie) Pfaff of Osseo, Joni (Charlie) Pasch of Kendall, Joe (Monica Soat) Miller of Kendall, Teresa (Tim) Schroeder of Kendall, Jim (Jodie) Miller of Tomah, Robert Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., Patti (John) Sandquist of Kendall, and Barb (Ken) Moore of Kendall; 37 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren and  great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lydia (Tony) Kinderski of Morgan, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends

In addition to his first wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Toby Pasch; his sister, Mary Franks; and a brother-in-law, Harry Franks.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at St. Joseph’s the Workman Catholic Church, 307 Spring St., Kendall. Father John Ofori-Domah will officiate. Burial will follow at the Glendale Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, May 2, from 4–7 p.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall, and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
