The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center was notified at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, April 6, of a single-vehicle rollover on County Highway D, east of Hall Road, in the town of Clinton. Ralph E. Smalley, 62, of Richland Center, Wis., was operating a 1999 Ford pickup truck, traveling west on County Highway D when he experienced a suspected medical episode. The vehicle left the roadway on a curve, traveled down an embankment, struck trees, overturned, and came to rest on its roof. Smalley was able to exit the vehicle on his own and was transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua by La Farge Area Ambulance. The La Farge Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted the sheriff’s office, which is investigating the incident. (Vernon County Sheriff’s Office photos)
