Eugene (Gene) R. Zirk, 78, of Kendall, Wis., passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday evening, Aug. 9, 2024.
Gene was born at home Nov. 23, 1945, to Milladore (Jones) and Edward Zirk, Sr. He married Louise Knoll on Feb. 4, 1967, in Kendall, Wis.
Gene was a proud Registered Jersey dairy farmer and family man. He had many one-liners that people will remember, such as “Dedication, determination and drive,” “Don’t tell me, show me,” and “If you’re not willing to do it right, don’t do it at all,” to name a few.
Gene will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Louise; two children, Allen (Amy) Zirk and Angie (Dave) Rosga; four grandchildren, Max and Jon Zirk and Alayna and Owen Rosga; his sister, Deb Coldren; his sister-in-law, Pat Knoll; his brother-in-law, Mike (Chris) Knoll; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eddie (Betty) Zirk, Jr. and Wally (Shirley) Zirk; his sister, Beata Franke; his nephew, Steve Zirk; and his brother-in-law, Butch Coldren.
The family would like to thank their farm neighbors, friends and past farm hands for their friendship over the years. Also, thank you to the past and present Co-op, Preston and Hillsboro Equipment employees for their years of service and friendship. A special thank you is extended to St. Croix Hospice for their support to Gene and the family.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1–3 p.m. at the Kendall Community Hall, 219 W. South Railroad St., Kendall, Wis. Per Gene’s wishes, no other services will be held. For those wishing to make a memorial donation, please choose your favorite charity.
