Michelle Ann DeWitt, 62, formerly of Ontario, Wis., passed away on April 18, 2024, at her beautiful new home in Nekoosa, Wis. She was born on June 20, 1961, in Janesville, Wis., to Michael Lee and Ilene (Martin) DeWitt.

A proud 1979 graduate of Brookwood High School, Michelle’s thirst for knowledge and advancement led her to pursue higher education in the field of accounting. Her attention to detail helped her to excel.  Her work ethic of commitment to excellence went above and beyond. Michelle just received a well-deserved promotion to manager. As tax season drew to a close, she looked forward to enjoying some well-earned time off with her beloved, Bob.

Her organizational skills went beyond her work; she also was instrumental in keeping the Billings Creek Cemetery books and maps up to date and well maintained.

Beyond her professional achievements, Michelle was a creative soul who found joy and solace in the beauty of the world around her. She found great joy in tending to her flowerbeds, where she expressed her creativity through the vibrant blooms and intricate landscapes she cultivated.

Despite her structured and prepared nature, Michelle possessed a free spirit that shone brightly. Her love of life was infectious, and she embraced every moment with open arms. To her family, Michelle was more than just a relative; she showed love and kindness, always ready to extend her warmth and compassion to those in need.

Michelle is survived by her mom, Ilene Knight; her dad, Michael Lee DeWitt; her daughter, Mindy Geier; her best friend and husband, Robert “Bob” Walters; her grandchildren, Tyler Baggot, Alex, Erica Michelle, and Ethan Geier; her great-grandchildren, Adam, Lilith, Zane, Ava, and Hudson; her brother, Michael John (Amy) DeWitt; Bob’s son, Charlie; many loving nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly; along with many other relatives and too many friends to name.

Michelle was preceded in death by her brothers, Craig and Todd, and her nephew Adam James DeWitt.

Michelle’s zest for life, creativity, and dedication to her work and family left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
