Donald R. Stedman, 86, of Powell, Wyo., and formerly of Ontario, Wis., passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Ontario.
He was born Aug. 25, 1937, a son of Carl and Ethel (Maitland) Stedman in Vernon County, Wis., and graduated from the Ontario High School. Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, and then in the Army Reserves.
He was married to Donalee Myers and they had two children, Shawn and Lisa. They later divorced.
Donald later married Norma Gates in Cody, Wyo. They enjoyed spending time at their homes in Janesville, Wis., and Powell, Wyo. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2014.
Don worked at General Motors in Janesville for 52 years. He also ran a painting business in Janesville. He truly enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Steve) Rasch; his grandchildren, Shyla, Cole, Luke and Ty; his great-grandchildren, Raven, Toby, Emberly, Riven, Noah and Jesse; his brother, Bruce (Judy) Stedman; and his stepsons, Dean Gates and Russ Gates.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Donalee and Norma; and his son, Shawn Stedman.
Memorial funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Free Methodist Church in La Farge, with Pastor Mark Phillips officiating. A time of visitation will be at the church from 12–1 p.m.
Interment will be at a later date in the Plymouth Cemetery in Hanover, Wis.
