Doris Mae Luethe, 89, of Norwalk, Wis., passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Serenity House in Tomah, Wis.

Doris was born Oct. 20, 1933, to Otto and Bernadine Seekamp. She married Frederick “Fritz” Luethe on Oct. 12, 1952. Together they raised four children and farmed side by side on the original Luethe farm.

The house that she and Fritz shared was the gathering place for family and friends, especially during the holidays.  She loved to cook, and no one ever left her house hungry.  Doris taught her children the value of working hard, praying hard and loving wholeheartedly.

Doris’ “I tell it like it is,” attitude hid the caring and loving heart she had for people.  She ran on COFFEE and chocolate (emphasis on coffee). She was a woman who was comfortable living in two very contrasting worlds. At one point, she was working next to Fritz milking cows and cleaning the barn, and 20 minutes later she would walk out of the house dressed to perfection and ready for a night on the town with family and friends.

Those who were acquainted with Doris knew that she may have been tiny, but she was tough as nails. Doris kept that lifelong, feisty attitude all the way to the end.

Doris is survived by her children, Mike (Cindy), Duane (Angie), Terry “Flint,” and Debbie (Steve) Dutton; his grandchildren, Melanie (Chris) Johnson, Jessica (friend Justin Dettinger) Dingman, Justin (Julia) Luethe, Chrystal (Matt) Boykin, Marc (Sam), Matthew (Erin), and Thomas (Taylor) Luethe, Mindy (Travis) Scholze and Terry Ann Luethe, Josh (Laura) Luethe, Kyle (Cassie), Alicia, Gabrielle, Connor and Bentley Olsen, and Kelly Giese; many great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Ron (Donna) Luethe; along with many dear friends who she had so much fun with over the years.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fritz, in May 2014; her parents; and a grandson, Jarrett “Peanut” Luethe.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home, 1132 Angelo Road, Sparta, Wis. Pastor Fran Hewuse will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date next to Fritz in the Pilgrims Home Cemetery, rural Norwalk, near their home farm.

Family and friends are invited for visitation Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home, 1132 Angelo Road, Sparta, WI.  Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
