By MARK GRUEN | Royall School District Superintendent

Happy spring! The calendar says we are turning the corner on winter, but the temperatures do not. I like to be optimistic, so I think spring is here! With spring comes the annual solo and ensemble season and the beginning of spring sports. It also marks a ramp up here at school with the fourth quarter and all that squeeze in before summer.

REFERENDUM

The big news at Royall right now is the April 5 vote on the referendum. This has been in the works for a long time, and the results will determine the future of the Royall School District. There was an 80-member task force that met multiple times, a two-day open house for all residents of the district to give input, a district-wide survey mailed out, a district-wide brochure mailed out, and two additional open house forums, plus task force members have presented at over 20 civic and community organizations meetings. We feel very confident that everyone has had an opportunity to provide input toward the referendum goals.

If you do have any last-minute questions, I am scheduling a lunch with the superintendent on Monday, April 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is very simple: Join me for lunch to discuss whichever topic you choose, such as budgeting, scheduling, staffing, or even politics. Last-minute referendum questions may be timely for this meeting. I would appreciate it if you called to let me know you were coming so we could plan for the appropriate space. I am also willing to come to you with information. Please give me a call and let me know where you would like to meet, when you would like me to attend, and what to prepare for and I will be there.
