Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers announced last week it would receive $90,000 in grant funding over the next two years from the Roots & Wings Foundation.
This critical investment will allow Scenic Bluffs to further support community members in the region by addressing unique health and social barriers.
“Funding from the Roots & Wings Foundation amplifies our ability to help individuals remove barriers to accessing quality healthcare,” say Kim Hawthorne, CEO of Scenic Bluffs. “We are grateful to the foundation for their investment into our comprehensive, wraparound services that will continue to support those with health needs in our communities.”
Scenic Bluffs aims to create strong and healthy communities by providing individuals with primary care, treatment and support. Staff at the health center not only provides clinical care, but also helps link individuals with non-clinical resources that allow them to stay healthy.
To better understand and address health and social barriers community members face, Scenic Bluffs’ staff work with individuals on issues such as transportation, language, healthy food availability, safety at home and social connections. The funding provided by the Roots & Wings Foundation allows Scenic Bluffs to further advance and support these ongoing efforts.
Roots & Wings is a family foundation established in 2019 by Judy and Gordon Faulkner. Judy Faulkner is the founder and CEO of Epic, a privately held healthcare software company based in Wisconsin. Her husband, Gordon Faulkner, is a retired pediatrician who provided free care to children in Wisconsin for more than 15 years.
Roots & Wings makes grants across the fields of healthcare, early childhood, basic needs, and human rights.
