Happy holidays!

As we roll into the holiday season, I want to once again challenge you to be aware of those less fortunate. We have many families right here in our own communities who find the holidays to actually be depressing and stressful. Please consider reaching out to those in need to help form a positive memory whenever you can.

Right around the corner is our annual Booster Club Alumni Weekend. It is planned for Jan. 14–15. We kick off Friday by introducing the alumni who are being inducted into the Royall Athletic Hall of Fame. On Saturday, we have alumni basketball and volleyball starting at 9 a.m. On Saturday night, new this year, we will host the Hall of Fame banquet at the Elroy Legion. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., the meal will be served at 6 p.m., and our program will be at 7 p.m.

On the topic of Wall of Fame, please consider nominating someone for this prestigious award. You can contact me directly for the application process.

Also, we hope that you can join us Tuesday, Jan. 4, for the girls basketball game vs. Necedah. At halftime of the varsity game, we plan on recognizing the 2021 girls track team for winning the WIAA state championship.

Referendum news: On Monday, Dec. 20, the Royall School Board voted to follow the recommendation of the 80-member task force and the district administrators and supervisors by going to referendum for $10.9 million. This will go a long way in deciding the future of the Royall School District while only raising your taxes on a $100,000 home by $42 a year. With the passing of the referendum, we will still have a mill rate that is at a historic low for the Royall School District. As a resident, you should do everything you can to become informed. We are confident that once you have all the facts, you will agree with the economical investment into our children.

As always, I am available to answer any questions that you have. I am scheduling another lunch with the superintendent on Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is very simple: Join me for lunch to discuss whichever topic you choose, such as budgeting, scheduling, staffing, or even politics. I would appreciate it if you called to let me know you were coming so we could plan for the appropriate space. I am also willing to come to you with information. Please give me a call and let me know where you would like to meet, when you would like me to attend, and what to prepare for, and I will be there.
