Evelyn E. Friedl, 92, of Elroy passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2020.
She was born Nov. 27, 1928, to Albert and Emma (Pesik) Kaus. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward Friedl. He preceded her in death in 1981. Evelyn was a faithful and devoted wife, working with Edward on the farm and all of the duties that come with being a farmer’s wife. She was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall. When she was able, Evelyn enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion and VFW; she was a social butterfly and loved talking with people wherever she would go. Fishing, venturing out to different restaurants, and playing the lottery were a few of the things she liked to do in her spare time. Most of all, Evelyn loved spending time with her family and friends. Grandma’s lap was always open when the grandchildren would come for a visit. She dearly loved the time she spent with them all.
She is survived by a son, Gary (Karen) of Wonewoc; three grandchildren, Diana (Jim) Kunde and Jerry (Amanda) and Edward Friedl; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth (Donna) Kaus; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Raymond; and her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Kaus and Irene Siebecker.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall. Pastor Larry Neitzel will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences can be made by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
