Two motorcycle crashes occurred Sunday in Vernon County, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 12:30 p.m., police responded to an accident at W. Main and N. Mill streets in La Farge, where John Halvorson, 79, of Charles City, Iowa, was unable to make the corner. Halvorson hit the curb, causing the motorcycle to go out of control. Both Halverson and his passenger, Joyce Knight, 80, also of Charles City, Iowa, were ejected off the motorcycle and sustained minor injuries.

Halvorson had not been wearing a helmet, though Knight had been wearing hers. Both declined medical transport to the hospital.

The La Farge EMS and the La Farge Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Then, at 1:45 p.m., Vernon County police responded to a motorcycle accident on Highway 33 east of Ontario. Greg Ontso, 43, of Edgerton, Wis., had been traveling east when he lost control on a sharp corner and hit a guardrail face. He was ejected off the motorcycle and sustained injuries.

Ontso had been wearing a helmet and was transported to Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro.

The Ontario EMS and the Ontario Fire Department also responded to the scene.
