A vehicle went off Highway 131 and into the Kickapoo River on Tuesday, and Vernon County police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
At about 6:25 p.m., Marco Antonio Medina Bazan was traveling south near bridge 3 south of Ontario when his vehicle crossed the centerline, continued down the embankment, and came to rest partly submerged in the river.
Bazan refused medical treatment at the scene and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (first offense). Charges will be referred to the Vernon County District Attorney’s office. (Vernon County Sheriff’s Office photo)
