A 73-year-old Oakdale woman was severely injured at about 2:37 a.m. today in an alcohol-related crash on Highway 21, near Ensign Road, just outside of Tomah, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, law enforcement and EMS found two severely damaged vehicles and a woman, Garrene Peaslee, in the front yard of a residence. At the scene, Tomah Area Ambulance treated Peaslee, who had potentially life-threatening injuries, and then she was flow by Gundersen AIR to the Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse.
The Wisconsin State Patrol arrested Charles Davis Jr., 36, of rural Tomah, for operating while intoxicated, and he was booked at the Monroe County Jail.
The investigation into this traffic crash continues by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash. Traffic on Highway 21 was restricted to one lane for almost five hours during the investigation.
