StrongBodies is a 10-week exercise program that includes progressive weight training, flexibility, balance and nutritional advice. Classes will be offered twice per week on Mondays and Wednesdays starting Jan. 6 in the FACE room at Hillsboro High School.
Research shows that a program such as StrongBodies improves bone density, reduces fall risk, improves arthritis, increases flexibility and range of motion, according to a press release prepared by Gundersen St. Joseph’s, which is hosting the event.
The StrongBodies Program is based upon years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improve the health of people of all ages, the press release continues.
“Strength is a critical factor in living healthier, more active lives. Our research shows that a program of strength training not only improves bone density but reduces falls, improves arthritis symptoms, and increases flexibility and strength,” said Dr. Nelson.
The program is appropriate for both sedentary and active adults.
