A hunter found skeletal remains near County Highway W in the town of Clifton, reporting the discovery at about 3:40 Friday, according to Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins.
The remains were recovered but have not been identified, nor has a cause of death been determined. The sheriff’s office, with assistance from other state and local law enforcement, are working the case.

The Monroe County Joint Investigative Task Force, the Monroe County Medical Examiner, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Department of Justice and Monroe County 911 Communications Center are assisting the sheriff’s office.
