UPDATE Monday, Aug. 27: The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two people arrested Friday in the child-neglect case. They are Travis Headrick, 47, and Amy Headrick, 39, both of Melvina.

Two adults were arrested Friday after Monroe County police received a report that children were being kept in makeshift cages at a Melvina residence, according to Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins.
The two adults were apprehended after police conducted a search warrant and located the children. Formal charges are forthcoming.
The investigation is active, and no names or further information will be released at this time, according to Monroe County police.
Monroe County Human Services, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and the Monroe County 911 Communications Center assisted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
