Couleecap Inc. has limited funding available through the Work-N-Wheels program to provide zero percent interest car loans for those who are securely employed and meet income requirements.

The Work-N-Wheels program covers those living in Vernon, Crawford, La Crosse, and Monroe counties.

The loan program is for applicants who may have been turned down by a traditional lending institution. Applicants for the loan program must be employed for at least 90 days or self-employed for one year. Applicants must demonstrate a need for a vehicle to get to and from work.

Also, applicants must show the ability to afford a loan payment as well as a full-coverage insurance payment every month and regular vehicle maintenance.

The maximum loan amount is $4,500. Participants must pay the tax, title, and licensing fees for the vehicle they purchase, as well as a 5 percent administration fee. Approved applicants are able to make a purchase from any licensed dealership in Vernon, Crawford, La Crosse, or Monroe counties.

The following are the income limits (before any deductions): One person in a household, $18,090; two people, $24,360; three people, $30,630; four people, $36,900; five people, $43,170; and six people, $49,440. For each person over six, add $6,270.
