After receiving information that 44-year-old Wilton man Greg Staley, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm and ammunition, police executed a search warrant at his residence at Walker and Enderby streets on Jan. 31.
Staley was taken into custody, and charges were referred to the Monroe County District Attorney’s office for possession of a firearm and two counts of felony bail jumping.
Also, Eric Styczynski, 38, of Gillett, Wis., was found residing at the residence and taken into custody during the search warrant. Styczynski was referred on charges of violations of the sex-offender registry.
Styczynski was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child in 1999 in Oconto County.
He also was convicted of OWI and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2016 in Shawano County, of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and criminal damage to dwelling in 2008 in Brown County, and of a sex-registry violation in 2007 in Oconto County.
The two were transported to the Monroe County Jail without incident. The Hillsboro Police Department, the Ontario Police Department and the Norwalk Police Department assisted the Wilton Police Department with the search.
