Phyllis C. Granger, 93, of Viroqua and formerly of the Hillsboro and Kendall areas passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at the Bethel Home in Viroqua.

She was born Dec. 19, 1923, to Arthur and Lina (Marsh) Nelson in Wonewoc. On June 27, 1945, Phyllis was united in marriage to Willard A. Granger. He preceded her in death June 14, 2006.

A loving mother and homemaker, Phyllis enjoyed entertaining and preparing meals for her family and friends. Her house was always open and welcoming. She will be missed. 

She is survived by her sister, Linda (Art) Stutz of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Denise Granger of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Dianna Granger of Illinois; a sister-in-law, Winnie Granger of Illinois; a son-in-law, Roger Zinke of Illinois; her grandchildren, Jeff (Linda) Granger, Darron (Beth) Granger, Rhonda (Kevin) Stickels, Randi Zinke, Ryan (Amanda) Zinke, Danika (Andy) Bridwell, Danielle (Bill) Fenton and Dane Granger; as well as many great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was further preceded in death by her husband, Willard; an infant son, Lawrence; a brother, Dale Nelson; a sister, Neva Brockmann; a daughter, Darlene Zinke; and her sons, Gordon Granger, Frank Granger, Lamont Granger and Wilbert Granger.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25525 County Hwy. P, Ontario. Pastor Larry Neitzel will officiate. Burial will be in the South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Wellington. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Dec. 14 at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
