Pat Malone Collins, born and raised in Ontario, passed away at the age of 86 in Sarasota, Fla., on Oct. 25, 2017.
Born to Orvis and Garnett (Palen) Collins on July 20, 1931, he graduated from Ontario High School in 1949, where he was a successful basketball player. On June 16, 1951, he married Delores Bauman, and in 1960, they and their three daughters moved to Milwaukee, where Pat and Delores lived until 1981, when they moved to Florida. He was heavily involved in youth baseball as a beloved coach and was a 103-gallon blood donor in his years in Sarasota. After retiring from Sarasota Memorial Hospital, he and Delores summered in Ontario for 15 years.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack; and his sisters, Marie, Bonnie and Bunny.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by Delores, his wife of 66 years; his daughters, Patricia (Gene) Riddle, Susan (John) Cornwell and Joan (Russ) Whiting; his four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and countless family and friends in Wisconsin and Florida.
Memorials may be donated to Babe Ruth Youth Baseball of Sarasota, Books for the Blind, or Sarasota High School Baseball Boosters. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Sarasota.
