Leone Rose Field, 94, of Kendall and formerly of La Crosse died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Heritage Manor in Elroy.
She was born March 23, 1917, to John and Emily (Seigel) Friedl in Monroe County. She was united in marriage to Albert Field on May 13, 1939, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kendall. He preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1988.
Together they owned and operated Sanitary Dairy, where they delivered milk for many years. They owned and operated the Speedway Print Shop until their retirement in 1977.
Leone moved to Kendall in 2003. She enjoyed playing bridge and was active in a bridge club. An excellent cook, she was known for making her lemon meringue pies for the church bake sales. She enjoyed golfing and served as a volunteer at Bethany-St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse.
She is survived by a brother, Harry Friedl of Tomah; two special nieces, Judy (Charles) Lydon of Kendall and Lana (Jack) Gardehl of Kissimmee, Fla.; a godson, Gregg Vosswinkel of Milwaukee; four special great-grandnieces, Mindy Hemmersbach (her fiance Jesse Craig) of Fargo, N.D., Mariah (Jay) Helmke of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Mallory and Matracia Hemmersbach of Tomah; a special great-grandnephew, Mitchel Hemmersbach of Tomah; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Friedl of Kendall; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lorraine Newlun, Phyllis Vosswinkle and infant sister Margaret; two brothers, Edward and infant brother Charles; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Friedl; and three brothers-in-law, James Newlun, Gerhardt Vosswinkle and Charles Haney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kendall. Father Richard C. Dickman will officiate. Entombment will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, La Crosse.
