Agnes C. Brown
Agnes C. (Gallagher) Brown, 80, of Beloit, Wis., died Friday, March 17, 2017, in her home.
She was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Wilton, the daughter of John and Cecilia Myrtle (White) Gallagher. Agnes was a 1955 graduate of Wilton High School and a 1957 graduate of New Lisbon Teachers College. She received her master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1966.
She married Donald Brown on June 21, 1969, in Beloit.
Agnes started teaching at Hart School, and then Red Brick, both in the Ontario area. She then taught at Powers and Townview Elementary Schools in Beloit for more than 40 years. She taught fourth grade and retired in 2000.
She was a hard and dedicated worker. She was a devoted wife, sister, stepmother, step-grandmother and step-great-grandmother who loved her family. She enjoyed her farm cats and the many trips she made to her home away from home up north. She was a devoted and longtime member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Beloit.
Survivors include her husband, Don; her stepsons, Donald (Mary Ann) Brown and Jeff (Dawn) Brown; her step-grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and Matthew (Kelsey) Zanzinger; her step-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Chandler; one sister, Rose (Ken) Mullenberg; her cousins, Mary Barnharst, Donald (Pete) White, Dorothy Klipstein and Audrey Sosinsky; her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beverly (Harold) Green, Bill (Joyce) Brown and John (Mary Brown); and lots of friends and former students.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary; her brothers, Jimmy and Jerome; her nice, Andrea Mullenberg; and her step-grandson, James Brown.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes was held Thursday, March 23, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial was in Newark Cemetery in Beloit.
