Jane M. Babbitt, 57, of Mauston, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017. 

She was born on Oct. 28, 1959, to Paul R. and Darlene A. (Meseberg) Babbitt in Tomah. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton.

She was a member of the Royall High School graduating class of 1977. After graduating high school, Jane continued her education at the Minnesota School of Business and specialized as a stenographer or court reporter. She worked at as a court reporter in Barron County, Buffalo County, Pepin County, La Crosse County and Monroe County for Judge Rice and Juneau County for Judge Curran, retiring in a few years.

She was united in marriage to Wesley Bohn, and a daughter was born from this union.

In her spare time, Jane enjoyed baking banana bread for seniors, bowling, riding bicycle, and taking cruises. Some of her most memorable travel times were cruises taken to destinations in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans as well as to Hawaii. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors walking, and often could be seen around Mauston on evening strolls. Jane had an extremely friendly and outgoing personality. 

She is survived by her daughter, Serena Bohn of Mondovi, Wis.; a grandson, Lyle Christopherson; her parents, Paul and Darlene of Wilton; a sister, Nancy (Terry) Mcintyre of La Crosse; two nephews, William (Melissa) Cannady of Peekskill, N.Y., and Emmanuel Cannady of South Bend, Ind.; an uncle, James Meseberg of Union Grove, Wis.; her aunts, Carol (Rick) Brandau of Holmen, Genevieve Westerman of La Crosse, and Elaine (Jack) McKee of La Crosse; and other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by grandparents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 401 Mill St., Wilton. Pastor Kristin Wendland will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hollow Cemetery, Cashton. 

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 4–6 p.m. at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 702 Center St., Wilton, and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
