Arnold “Tubes” Peterson, 77, of Ontario died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby, after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Arnold was born in the town of Whitestown on June 11, 1934, to Orvis A. and Tennie G. (Hanson) Peterson. He served in the United States Army from March 1957 to March 1959.

Arnold farmed for most of his life; it was a job that he loved. He enjoyed the outdoors a lot and always looked forward to hunting and fishing season. Arnold loved animals; his cats and dogs were his “kids.” He stayed busy raising trout in the natural spring on his farm, supplying the Hoff Valley Trout Club for many years. He was lovingly known to most as “Bulldog,” plus he was known as “The Mayor of Hoff Valley.” Arnold was a fun-loving man who enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Arnold is survived by his siblings, La Vern O. (Connie) Peterson of Belvidere, Ill., Vernon (Esther) Peterson, Pearl (Bruce) Bauman, and Eugene O. (Linda) Peterson, all of Ontario; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Bethany Sandhill Lutheran Church, near Ontario, with Pastor Gary Daines officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Kevin, Kurt and Doug Bauman; Roger, Mark, Scott, Michael, Phillip and Tony Peterson; and Mark Davis, all of whom are Arnold’s nephews.
