Sylvia Ruth Von Ruden, 96, passed away at the Serenity House in Tomah on Dec. 12, 2015.

Sylvia was born Aug. 30, 1919, to George and Sophia Koebernick on a farm outside of Wilton, where she grew up and attended Dorset Valley Grade School, and then attended Wilton High School. Sylvia stayed at home after graduation to help on the farm, along with her parents. Later she worked at First Bank of Sparta in Wilton.

On Jan. 23, 1970, Sylvia married Phillip (Glen) Von Ruden in La Crescent, Minn. They continued to farm and later operated the Korner Bar in Norwalk for many years. Later they moved to Wilton, where Sylvia lived until her move to Sunset Ridge Estates.

Sylvia has been a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton, where she was baptized and confirmed.

Sylvia is survived by her sons, Ronald Koebernick of Sparta and Terry (Cindy) of Overland Park, Kan.

Sylvia was grandmother to four grandchildren, Lori Sue (Ludwig) Frison of Milton, Wis., Brian Koebernick of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Natasha (Brandin) Cullen of Overland Park, Kan., and Josh (Lauren) Koebernick of Janesville. Sylvia also has 11 great-grandchildren: Chelsea, Nikky, Wyatt, Anthony, Kylee, Jadin, Rielle, Tyce, Titus, Selah and a new baby boy on the way.

Sylvia leaves behind her sister, Grace Schell of Cumberland, Wis., and a brother, Kenneth Koebernick of Wilton; and three nephews, Ted Koebernick of Wilton and John (Cindy) and Carroll (Vonnie) Schell of Cumberland, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her usband, and a sister, Marian Jackson.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton. Pastor Kristin Wendland will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
